International Goodwill missions feed the soul and transform lives

"Going to Namibia with the Silverlining changed my perspective on my injury and my life! Loved, loved, loved it!"

In 2008, The Silverlining embarked on its first international Goodwill mission to Namibia, supporting a remote school in urgent need of repair. Each Silverliner played an active role—teaching the children a new skill, leading activities, and working side by side on essential renovations to create a safer, more inspiring learning environment.

The impact of that first journey was profound. Inspired by its success, Our Trustee Kathryn Barry went on to lead four further missions, single-handedly expanding the programme’s reach and deepening its impact. These journeys transformed not only the lives of the children and communities supported, but also the Silverliners themselves—offering a powerful opportunity to give back with purpose and pride.

The ripple effect continued long after the teams returned home. Silverliners shared their experiences through presentations in schools, churches, and professional conferences, spreading messages of hope, resilience, and global connection—carrying forward the positivity and goodwill that touched the hearts of everyone involved.
