What Makes Your Heart Shine?
We are very excited to present The Silverlining Digital Heart Shine Art Book.
The Digital Heart Shine Book was created with the support of Slater and Gordon Lawyers to illustrate the positivity and creativity that is inspiring hope, connection and ongoing rehabilitation at The Silverlining.
The book was inspired by Silverliners’ passions and focus on wellbeing, be it art, music, sport, cooking, or other creative and educational activities. With all this enthusiasm and excitement, we simply had to run a fundraiser to showcase the amazing talent and creativity that Silverliners contribute during our daily Zoom activities.
Connection with others through shared common interests and creative pursuits helps support the journey to recovery. We offer a rich and diverse set of activities to support Silverliners through The Silverlining Charity STAR Programme (Structured Therapeutic Activities for Rehabilitation) which highlights healthy and positive ways for people in recovery from brain injury to connect, learn and grow.
“My Silverlining friends have come to the rescue and made my heart shine.”

The Woodland Friends Book
The Woodland Friends book was inspired by the children at the Child Brain Injury Trust to create a supportive book that would help them on their own journeys.
Nat’s beautiful Woodland Friend animals were embraced by four main Star Programme Groups: The Creative Writing Group express the Silverliners stories through the seasons, the Art Group communicate through their drawings, the Photography Group spoke through their camera lens and finally the Healthy Relationships Group utilized the power of positivity though their supportive voices to instil comfort and resilience.
The book illustrates some of the many consequences of brain injury (cognitive, emotional, behavioural, social and physical) as well as to highlight helpful strategies to increase resilience in the face of these challenges. The Power of believing in You!
Meet Nat, the illustrator of our Woodland Friends animals
![]() | I’m Nat, I have painted all the animals for our book, and I have loved every second of it. I had never painted or done art before I was ill and I now find it is my freedom, and my way to express who I now am. I had never painted an animal until last year and I thought I would have a try. Silverlining believed in me and encouraged me to do more. I have loved creating characters for my friends I’ve made through the Charity. As soon as I paint the eyes, the characters come to life and a new story comes to life! I am part of the Creative Writing Group, the Art Group, and the Photography Group and I just can’t believe we have written and created a book together! I feel so proud of what we have all achieved and so grateful to be given the opportunity! To have been part of this has meant everything and has given me so much to focus on, to achieve, and to care about. I feel so grateful to everyone for believing in me and believing in what I can, and we can all do. I love our groups and feel we have become so close through doing this and I have made so many new friends and developed new skills. I also feel so happy to be able to have found a way that I can hopefully help other people who are going through brain injury. I feel very emotional, happy, and proud! Thank you for believing in me, out of everything I’ve done in my life, this has to be one of my biggest achievements! |
