Anto would like to welcome everyone to join our first Silverlining book group. We will be hosting our first literary discussion at the Terrace Restaurant in the British Library on Thursday 19th July, 2.30pm.
Here is a little message from Anto:
“I have always been an avid reader both before and after my accident. I love reading for lots of reasons, whether to make me giggle or think or even just to pass time. I love reading so much, I even wrote a book – The Never Ending Journey – about my experience of having a brain injury.
I am in a couple of book groups already. I really enjoy the social interaction and the fact that we all arrive with one purpose – to discuss the book we have all read. It is because of this that I thought I would set up a book group for Silverliners, where we can meet every couple of months to discuss a short or quick-read book.
Even if you struggle with reading, I think it would be great if you could come along. My plan is that we can chat about the book but still keep the meetings informal.
We are going to meet at the Terrace Restaurant at the British Library on the penultimate Thursday of every second month at 2.30pm for about an hour. The Terrace Restaurant is a cafeteria style place with lots of good food and drink (I would recommend the brownie!).
The first book we are going to read is Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. I thought that this would be a good starter because it is short and lots of people have probably read it before.
Thanks… and get reading!
