Alice’s Story
Hello. My name is Alice. Seven (7) years ago, as a teenager, my life was turned upside down whilst I was spending a fab summer of work and travel in the United States. I was in California with a group of friends that I had made on my travels, and it was our last night. On our way back to the youth hostel, we were walking over a zebra crossing, when to all our shock and surprise a car hit me at 50mph. This has left me living with a BRAIN INJURY.
Since that day my life has been an uphill struggle to re-build my life. Living with the effects of a brain injury has been very difficult but with the help from family, support workers and doctors, I have made great progress, to be able to live independently and find joy and happiness in life.
Since joining the Silver Liners in 2008, I have been given the opportunity to meet other people living with brain injuries and who experience similar difficulties.
This year I am hoping to raise money, to enable me to go on the next SILVER LINING good will mission. Towards this, I am arranging a bowling evening once a month (Silver Strikes), to give everyone the opportunity to get together, have fun and be sociable, and raise money to help others less fortunate then me.
